spent the last little while searching for text-based information about this woman’s work. have not yet found what i was looking for, and am moving on for the time being.

and, anyway, the images themselves—their formal elegance, the integrity i sense in their complexity—have told me so much already.

the only difference between then and now is that we now have access to more information about ourselves. each way that we have figured out how to share information between humans—language, writing, travel, translation, painting, photography, stories, stories, stories, mail, radio, television, movies, and now The Internet—has given us a more thorough sense of just was is going on here.

when, during my adolescence, i asked myself what the meaning of life might be i answered back that some entity might have made us and was just waiting until we could all be honest with each other all the time—till all communication was based in truth. then we’d all know everything and be finished the project.

as a teenager, my sense of life’s purpose was to understand it completely and i saw all the ways we lie to ourselves and others as blocks to our transcendence.

these days, i have a similar vision, that we have the ability now to share really good information and work together to get a very clear picture about what we are up to on this planet, in this universe.

there’s something about the singularity here too that i haven’t yet unpacked.

i’m enjoying the link between my thoughts 15 years ago and my thoughts today:

information is key to a certain kind of transcendence i’m after, and i want it for everyone. i want to know what this world will feel like, when deeply and widely comprehended.
